Maris Have Fashion Know How

June 2010

Maris is delighted to announce their fit-out partnership with Aurora Fashions.

Aurora Fashions owns, develops and manages the performance of some of the UK’s most respected women’s fashion brands – Karen Millen, Coast, Warehouse and Oasis, which are all aimed at the higher end of the women’s fashion market.

Aurora’s business was split between Paul Street, EC2 and Rathbone Place, W1. Over the years Aurora had grown organically into these spaces through a series of mergers and acquisitions. It is clear to see this led to issues with the way the teams worked, their adjacencies both horizontally and vertically throughout the building, how they functioned, and the overall aesthetic. This split was preventing operational efficiency and consistency throughout the office and general day to day necessities i.e. storage capability and effective adjacencies, had fallen by the wayside as a result.

Aurora selected Maris to help them to resolve their space issues. The restack of their existing property at Paul Street has commenced on site, using the basement as swing space to enable Maris and Aurora to complete a phased insitu refurbishment. The project is being completed over 5 phases with brands moving into the basement whilst their floors are being redeveloped. We are now undertaking the third phase of the project. The first phase being the relocation of warehouse from Rathbone Place to Oliver’s Yard, a building adjacent to their Paul Street office – this was done to bring the brands closer together.

Maris’ Project Director commented, “It was clear from the start of this project that a clever logistical solution would be required to ensure that the refurbishment would keep the brands from experiencing downtime. Maris worked closely with the team at Aurora to find a solution that suited everyone, whilst minimizing business disruption.”
