From Cannon Street to Old Broad Street, via Madrid

April 2009

Maris Interiors is delighted to announce that they have been appointed by Spanish law firm Uría Menéndez to carry out their prestigious turnkey design, fit-out and furniture contract.

Uría Menéndez, who have been named in two categories of the “PLC Which Lawyer 2009” awards, have taken 4,500 sq ft of office space on the 17th floor at 125 Old Broad Street, a landmark tower building in the heart of the City, formerly occupied by the London Stock Exchange. They will be relocating from 2,500 sq ft of office space at 100 Cannon Street.

The scope of works for the fit-out will include largely cellularised office space with little open plan areas, an executive meeting suite, 3 meeting rooms, break out and comms room facilities as well as a large, modern and minimalist reception area. The project will take 7 weeks to complete.

Maris' Project Director commented, “In order for us to really understand Uría Menéndez’s culture, we visited their head office in Madrid. Our design was therefore able to echo elements of the visual language from the Madrid office in the London project. It also allowed us to perfectly assimilate the Spanish works of art and antique desks which were brought over to the UK for incorporation in the fit-out. The interior is designed to showcase Uría Menéndez’s extensive art collection. We have allowed feature walls and lighting to show off their unique pieces.”

Lawrence Mohiuddine, Partner and Project Director added, “From visiting Madrid and understanding Uría's culture and corporate standards to delivering a highly cellular solution that works fluently with the building’s services, this project demonstrates perfectly the services provided by Maris. The result will be a stunning design that represents the Uría Menéndez brand and one that works with the property, drastically reducing the Client’s fit-out expenditure.”
