Only the Best for HarbourVest

June 2009

A direct recommendation from a company in their building made Maris the obvious choice for HarbourVest, the leading global private equity investment firm, to handle their office fit-out and furniture project in Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, W1.

This will be the second fit-out at Berkeley Square House for Maris, having recently completed the 15,000 sq ft relocation of Straumur-Burdaras Investment Bank from Sackville Street to Berkeley Square House in June of last year.

HarbourVest, who were already located on the 8th floor at Berkeley Square House, decided to take an additional suite on the 8th floor to double the size of their UK Head Office from 4,000 to 8,000 sq ft. A key element of the Maris design brief was to develop the new space to ensure that it expanded on the look and feel of the existing office, so that whilst the two offices could not be directly linked without a full and expensive rebuild, that there would be a similar aesthetic in both spaces.

The scope of works included the complete redecoration and re-carpeting of both wings of the 8th floor, a new tea point facility to link the two spaces and provide a fulcrum for the company, an extension to the existing meeting room facility and the linking of this to a new reception area.

Maris' Project Director commented, “The two suites were both fitted-out to varying standards of quality and aesthetic. HarbourVest agreed with our recommendation that the length of their lease did not warrant a full refurbishment, but a simple linking of the two spaces through architectural detailing. The final solution provides HarbourVest with a cost effective refurbishment that completely updates the image of their London premises.”
