The Smart Odds are on Maris

Maris Interiors is pleased to announce the successful completion of the 4,500 sq ft fit-out project at Highgate Studios for Smartodds, the market leaders in football modeling in the betting sector.
Smartodds are a team of quantitative analysts, software developers, experienced traders and passionate football experts, who use their statistical expertise to analyse past data from football matches and develop mathematical models to produce estimates for football matches and use this input to analyse upcoming matches. Their traders then place bets on behalf of their clients in various betting markets globally. Smartodds appointed Maris Interiors largely thanks to the sound demonstration of technical expertise and ability to provide excellent design coupled with value for money.
The design challenge for Maris Interiors lay in the creation of some separation in the open plan layout to allow traders privacy without effecting the flow of communication and amalgamation of different teams in the business. Maris overcame this by using partition walls and free standing screens to allow some privacy whilst still enabling the different teams to integrate with one another.
The scope of works also included a "chef's kitchen" to accommodate Smartodds’ own Chef, who prepares food for the team, who work long hours and weekends, covering matches.
The design had to be fresh, energetic, and vibrant as well as being functional and technically sound. Maris Interiors was able to bring the fun elements of the sport into the space by using bright colours and blown up images of football players. A football pitch area was constructed for the traders with a "grass-like" carpet to create the illusion of being on an actual pitch. White "wall talkers", walls with a white board surface to write on, have been applied on walls in meeting areas to encourage communication and team meetings.
Maris Interiors also worked alongside Smartodds own IT cabling company to ensure a completely smooth transition of all IT related matters paramount to the running of Smartodds’ 24-7 trading platform, where traders watch and analyse every single football match.
Maris' Project Director commented,“From the outset, the vision for the project had a strong conceptual base and a high design content. Clearly the challenge was to combine new technical infrastructure and the fabric of the building with the innovative working environment for the traders.
